Now, will Dixit quit?

BS Yeddyurappa, the disgraced BJP chief minister of Karnataka, had to resign — though reluctantly — after the state Lokayukta (Ombudsman) found him guilty of facilitating an illegal mining scam in Bellary. Now the question is whether Sheila Dixit, the Congress chief minister of Delhi, will do the same after a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) found her responsible for “wasteful expenditure” and “avoidable expenditure” of more than 130 crores.
The CAG report tabled yesterday in Parliament found that Commonwealth Games was actually a saga of “enormous bungling,” “highly irregular” practices and massive waste of public money. The report puts her in the august company of Suresh Kalmadi, the jailed Congress MP and chairman of Commonwealth Games organizing committee.

Was it the BJP, or the Congress?
The Prime Minister’s Office blames Atal Behari Vajpayee’s government which was in power when India bid for the Games in 2003 – a claim repeated in the Lok Sabha today by Sports Minister Ajay Maken. The BJP says that’s not the case.
